This is the third year that Tarrant County College has hosted WORDfest . At WORDfest today, I gave a joint presentation with Rebecca Balcarcel on "Life After Your First Edit Letter." It went well, and we had fun!
The Arlington Public Library has asked me to do a presentation on the editing process on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 10:30AM to 12:30PM for their writer workshop series, The Write Stuff. Assuming people want to know what it's like for a novel as well as a short story, I will be teaming up with my friend Rebecca Balcarcel, who is nearing the end of the editing process for her novel, The Other Half of Happy . More details to come!
My short story "A Debate over the Hopping Undead" has been accepted for publication in Immersion: An Asian Anthology of Love, Fantasy, and Speculative Fiction . The anthology will come out this summer. After spending years concentrating on my professorial career, I'm finally feeling like a writer again. Woohoo! Update: The contract says the anthology will come out in the fall.
I don't enter the Writers of the Future Contest often. I earned my previous honorable mention from them, which was also my first honorable mention from them, back in 2015. I've won a second honorable mention from the Writers of the Future Contest this year, though they don't actually mention Honorable Mentions to anyone but the people who win them....
